Lead Yourself First
Identity, Responsibility, and Self-Leadership
What this experience explores
Before young people can lead others, they need to understand who they are, recognize their influence, and take responsibility for their choices. This experience helps young people build identity, confidence, personal responsibility, and the ability to lead themselves.
Many young people are handed leadership roles before they have had a chance to think through what leadership actually requires of them. This session slows that down. It gives participants room to examine identity and belonging, personal responsibility, confidence and leadership, communication and influence, and purpose and practical next steps.
The experience is built on a simple idea: the most important leadership work a young person can do is the work of leading themselves well.
How the session runs
This is not a lecture. Ton uses interactive activities, personal storytelling, and guided conversation to help participants practice self-awareness and responsibility in real time. Rather than being told what leadership means, young people work through it together.
Small-group discussion and reflective prompts help participants recognize the influence they already carry, examine the choices in front of them, and identify practical next steps they can take right now. The session moves from reflection into concrete commitment so that participants leave with something to act on.
