Ton's own journey of immigration, hardship, leadership, and uncertainty shaped his understanding of what it means to keep going when life does not follow the expected path. This experience draws on that story to help young people process adversity, disappointment, and the gaps between what they hoped for and what actually happened.

Rather than offering shallow reassurance that everything happens for a reason, the session makes room for the real weight of disappointment. It explores how faith can continue when life takes an unexpected turn and how God's grace can be found in detours no one would have chosen.

The conversation invites young people to consider how resilience grounded in hope differs from simply pushing through, and how faith can hold both sorrow and trust at the same time.

This is not a lecture. Ton shares his personal story and uses interactive activities and guided conversation to help participants connect it to their own experiences of disappointment and unexpected change. Young people are invited to reflect honestly rather than perform the right response.

Through small-group discussion and reflective prompts, participants process adversity through a lens of faith and consider where God has been present in their own detours. The session moves from storytelling into reflection and practical encouragement for navigating difficult transitions.

This experience is designed for youth and young adults navigating transitions, setbacks, loss, or the gap between expectations and reality. It fits parish missions, men's and women's retreats, confirmation retreats, Catholic conferences, and youth ministry gatherings.

It is especially meaningful for communities walking through a difficult season together and needing encouragement to keep going without pretending everything is fine.
